Why become a member?

Advocacy

Combining the strength of hundreds of members allows your voice to be heard in city government, the community and beyond.

Membership in the Sisters Chamber provides a vehicle for the business community, to express opinions that relate to the economic welfare of the city and surrounding areas. Numbers equal power.

The Chamber represents the opinions and feelings of business owners to the City of Sisters, the State of Oregon, and the Federal Government by staying informed about current issues affecting business and being involved.

Economic Development

The Chamber actively participates in developing a healthy economy for the Sisters Area.

The Sisters Area Chamber works cooperatively with the Central Oregon Economic Development department and the City of Sisters to entice businesses to settle in Sisters strengthening the local economy and providing jobs.

The various events that the Chamber of Commerce sponsor and promote have a direct positive economic impact on the local economy.

Education

Educational Seminars and Workshops are offered to provide learning opportunities on various aspects of business ownership, customer service and management.

The Chamber works in cooperation with Central Oregon Community College and local business experts to facilitate workshops and seminars aimed at providing valuable information for improving your business.

Marketing & Promotion

The Chamber acts as an extension of your business and helps to promote it. With marketing budgets being a smaller slice of the pie and more competition for consumers, chamber membership can help you expand your reach by offering a great value for your membership dollar.

The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce receives over 20,000 inquiries annually about businesses in the area and it is our policy to refer only member businesses – be one of those.

The Chamber Visitor Information Center is another venue for your collateral. Only member brochures and business cards are displayed. 

Relocation packets containing local member business information are either handed out or mailed to individuals who are interested in relocating to Sisters. These packets contain information on community products and services.

The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce maintains a website complete with your business information in a minimum of two categories at no charge. The Sisters Chamber website www.sisterschamber.com receives approximately 8500 hits per month.

The new monthly Chamber newsletter, The Roundup, features member and Chamber, news and information.

The Chamber is constantly researching advertising opportunities in print, radio and television media that provide maximum exposure for the least amount of money through cooperative advertising.

Chamber members enjoy additional opportunities for advertising on the website at very reasonable cost.

The Chamber Membership directory, mailing labels, email addresses and visitor mailing lists are available to members only.  Updated quarterly, this directory is available to all members at no charge. It is an alphabetical listing including name, address, phone and fax numbers, and type of business.

Free Sisters maps are provided for distribution to your customers or clientele. Chamber Members are prominently displayed on the map.

Trade shows and conferences attended by Chamber staff are additional opportunities for getting your information to consumers.

Networking

Networking is an essential element in business success. Social events provide the opportunity to meet new potential customers, make business contacts, and have fun.

The Mix and Mingle is hosted by a different member business each month. Mix and Mingles are great opportunities to meet new people, and by acting as a host, introduces other members to your business. 

Educational seminars and Workshops are offered to increase knowledge about different aspects of business, and brings together owners who are dealing with similar issues. This offers an ideal situation to bounce ideas off one another to solve problems and network.

Monthly membership meetings offer an additional networking opportunity.

Volunteer Opportunities & Committees

Increase your involvement and exposure in the community by volunteering for chamber activities or serving on one of the committees.

The Chamber has six committees in which you can be involved: Special Events, Membership/Small Business, Business Advocacy & Government Affairs, Economic Development, Visitor Information Services, and Marketing.

Volunteers staff the visitor information center and assist with Special Events.
